Marika Franko is in charge of managing the State of City Building project. Her research role for the Institute involves continuous data-collection and analysis of city building organizations and initiatives presented in CBI’s own city building database – Citylinx .
Marika’s own research interests include the impact of the built environment on our health, the revitalization of underutilized spaces, park development, and the effects of proactive vs reactive planning strategies. Marika is currently finishing her Master of Urban Planning at Ryerson University and holds a BAH in Human Geography from Queen’s University. Upon graduation, Marika is eager to gain more experience within the intersection of real estate interests and urban planning strategies, and exploring her passion of green infrastructure and urban revitalization
