A second-year Master of Planning student at Ryerson, Kelly’s research interests include the relationship between planning and economic development, as well as mechanisms to improve the implementation of provincial policy directions. Kelly’s Masters Research Paper focuses on tools to promote residential intensification. At CBI, Kelly’s area of research is complete communities in the suburbs.
Originally from Burlington, Ontario, Kelly has lived and worked in a number of cities including Montreal, New York, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. She has worked in advocacy and research, evaluating economic development and community engagement programs. Kelly came to planning from a public health background, and remains passionate about creating healthy, active, and interesting urban environments. In addition to being an engaged student, Kelly represents the interests of all planning students in Ontario as Student Delegate to the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI). She is also an active community member, avid cyclist, and yoga enthusiast.
