A new report from the Ryerson City Building Institute finds that the proposed Rail Deck Park would provide the City of Toronto with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a large contiguous green space of regional significance. The Opportunity of Rail Deck Park, authored by Claire Nelischer, CBI project manager, and Graham Haines, CBI research manager, explores the benefits of creating a 20-acre urban park in downtown Toronto. The researchers note that the proposed park would help address downtown’s parkland shortfall and serve the immediate needs of the area’s growing population which is expected to almost double by the year 2041.
